What You Should Know
UNIZIK has implemented a transparent automated scoring system for this year’s Post-UTME and Direct Entry admissions. Your final screening score depends on two major components:
- UTME score contributes 70% (weighted as 0.7)
- O’Level results count for 30% (weighted as 0.3)
To qualify, you must upload your O’Level results to both the JAMB CAPS portal and the UNIZIK portal, ideally through JAMB-accredited centers to avoid disqualification.
Grading System for O’Level Results
UNIZIK assigns points to O’Level grades as follows:
GRADES:
- A1 90
- B2 80
- B3 70
- C4 60
- C5 55
- C6 50
- D7 / E8 / F9 / AR* 0
AR (Awaiting Result) is treated the same as failing grades.
Only the 4 subjects you sat for in the UTME are considered when calculating your O’Level score.
Final Score Formula & Example
To calculate your final screening score:
Final Score = (UTME Score × 0.7) + ((Total O’Level Points + Bonus) × 0.3)
Example Calculation:
UTME Score: 285
O’Level Grades (in one sitting):
- English (B3) = 70
- Biology (A1) = 90
- Physics (C4) = 60
- Chemistry (B2) = 80
Total O’Level Points: 300
With bonus (single sitting):Final Score = (285 × 0.7) + ((300 + 10) × 0.3)= 199.5 + 93 = 292.5
Without bonus (two sittings):Final Score = 199.5 + (300 × 0.3)= 199.5 + 90 = 289.5
That 3-point boost could be a game-changer when cut-off marks are tight.
Final Thoughts
UNIZIK’s open scoring system offers clarity and fairness for all candidates. Now that the formula is transparent, you’re better equipped to strategize and track your admission chances.
