The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has released its 2025/2026 admission list for both UTME and Direct Entry candidates.
The lists are now live on both the JAMB CAPS Portal and the UNICAL admission portal, giving you the power to check your admission status instantly.
How to Check Your Admission Status
- Visit either the JAMB CAPS Portal or the UNICAL undergraduate portal.
- Log in with your JAMB email/password or registration number.
- Click “Check Admission Status” to see if you’ve been offered admission.
- Important: Any admission offer not displayed on CAPS is not valid.
Types of UNICAL Admission Lists
UNICAL typically releases multiple rounds of admission lists. Here’s what you need to know:
- Merit (First Batch) — includes top-performing candidates based on JAMB and departmental aggregates.
- Second & Third Batch and Supplementary Lists — for candidates who missed the first list due to late O’Level uploads, narrowly missed cut-offs, or other selection glitches.
- VC Admission List — a discretionary list released under Vice Chancellor’s quota, usually following standard admissions. Note: This method is considered irregular by JAMB policy, but it’s still sometimes used.
What to Do After You See Your Name
- Accept your offer via the JAMB CAPS portal immediately.
- Print your JAMB and UNICAL admission letters.
- Pay your acceptance fee through the UNICAL student portal or designated banks.
- Prepare for screening by gathering your O’Level results, JAMB slip, birth certificate, admission letter, and other required documents.
- Register for courses—generate fee invoice online, complete clearance, and finalize your registration.
